Board members
Joseph Mapa is President and CEO of Mount Sinai Hospital. He is presently a Governor of the University of Toronto, serving on its Executive Committee. He is also an instructor on strategic management at York University’s Schulich School of Business and his most recent recognition is the 2010 Canadian College of Health Service Executives' inaugural National Mentorship Award.
Rimma Mouzika has an extensive background in accounting and treasury management, which she obtained in retail, entertainment and financial industries. She has been preparing TEATRON Toronto Jewish Theatre's financial statements since 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Administrative Studies degree from York University and has a Certified General Accountant designation.
Kivi Shapiro joined TEATRON in the 2007-2008 season, stage managing "Conversations with My Father" and playing Reuben in "Chaim's Love Song". He's been involved onstage and off over the last few years, and was commended as TEATRON’s Volunteer of the Year for 2010. He’s a Librarian by training and an Interaction Designer by trade, and he loves the opportunity to be involved in theatre without compromising the sanctity of Shabbat.
Arnie Zweig has been practicing law since 1979 and has also taught law at Ryerson for over 20 years. He has been involved one way or another with community theatre for over 30 years. He has appeared in several TEATRON plays as an actor, including the roles of Eddy Ross in "Conversations with My Father" and Jack Jerome in "Brighton Beach Memoirs".
As well as being a Board member, Marty Mehr has been working as a volunteer on TEATRON's publicity and marketing since its first production, "This Night", in 2003-2004. He has more than 30 years experience in business journalism, and in marketing and advertising for a wide range of companies and non-profit organizations.
Tamar Ehrlich has been a part of TEATRON Toronto Jewish Theatre since its beginning. She has been Props Mistress for most of the theatre productions including "The Chosen", "The Sisters Rosensweig", "Home of the Brave", "The Tenth Man", "The Last Night of Ballyhoo", "The God of Isaac", "Conversations With My Father", "Chaim's Love Song", "A Glimpse of the Light", "The Dybbuk", "Brighton Beach Memoirs", and "Bluish". Born in Poland and educated in France, Israel, England and Canada, her interest in theatrical props is an extension of work in sculpture, design and painting.
Gilbert Sharpe is a partner at Fasken Martineau Law Group, and the former long-time Director of the Legal Branch of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Since leaving the Ontario government, he has continued to work for government on numerous health law and policy matters and has clients both in the private and the public health care area. He holds several professorships (Professor, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University; Professor, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto) as well as other positions including President of the Canadian Institute of Law and Medicine and Editor-in-Chief of Health Law in Canada.
Lyon Wexler practiced law in Toronto for a number of years, and is presently a consultant with The Metrontario Group , an investment group with its head office in Toronto. He has played in numerous musical productions over the years. In his teens and twenties, he sang in nightclubs in Ontario and Quebec. He has acted as Cantor/Chazzan at synagogues formerly in Ottawa and now in Toronto and continues to do so on a part-time basis. Ex-officio
Ari Weisberg’s directorship and design credits include "Edmond", "The Melville Boys", "The Affections of May", "Murder Among Friends", "This Night", "The Chosen", "The Sisters Rosensweig", "Home of the Brave", "The Tenth Man", "The Last Night of Ballyhoo", "The God of Isaac", "Conversations With My Father", "Chaim's Love Song", "A Glimpse of the Light", "The Dybbuk", "Brighton Beach Memoirs", and "Bluish". He worked for 18 years as a director and a producer for television in Kingston, Ontario, before returning to his first love, live theatre.
Joyce Shier has an extensive background in the performing arts. She practically grew up in her parents’ movie theatre to become a movie aficionado. She directed many plays and musicals for Hadassah WIZO and was the Chair of TEATRON’s Board for its first seven seasons. She has been active in many organizations and is an avid Bridge player.
