  Mark Albert - REB SENDER

This production will make it three times lucky for Mark appearing on stage with TEATRON Theatre: he has also been seen in THE TENTH MAN and CONVERSATIONS WITH MY FATHER. Mark enjoyed all of them. Other theatre work that Mark was proud to be a part of includes the roles of Sam, The Pickle Man, in CROSSING DELANCEY for Encore Entertainment Production and Jim, the Doctor, in Scarborough Players' ALL MY SONS. Mark is always appreciative of the support he receives from his friends and family and most especially his new bride, Lois.

 Noam Bergman – COMPOSER

Noam has enjoyed music his whole life, and is only growing more attached to the art as he continues as a music composer. He is the winner of multiple original composition awards and his music appears in several web games. Noam is delighted to be creating music for his first theatre music experience, TEATRON’s The Dybbuk.

  

Ron Boyd - THE MESSENGER

Ron has starred in several successful productions for the Holy Blossom Temple Stagecraft Company, among them THE PRICE, I'M NOT RAPPAPORT, A SHYLOCK, THE CASE AGAINST SOL SCHUMAN and EINSTEIN'S GIFT. He has also performed with Juno Award winning children's performers Judy and David in productions of GOLDIROCKS, PIGMANIA, RED'S IN THE HOOD, and BEANSTOCK. Ron recently guest starred on an episode of CTV's CORNER GAS, and can be seen on the web on the award winning web series STAR TREK: NEW VOYAGES. He is thrilled to be working on this, his first appearance with TEATRON Theatre.

  Jordan Cohen - MEYER / FIRST JUDGE

For TEATRON Theatre, CONVERSATIONS WITH MY FATHER. Jordan has been acting since age 10. His passion for the arts grows with each new production. Now, at the age of 21, Jordan runs his own online radio station, is the lead character in the new upcoming independent film DEFINING INSTINCTS, and also has done modeling for JC MAC denim and jackets. Expect great things in the coming years from this young man.

  Michael Close – Set design

For TEATRON: THE TENTH MAN, THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO. Michael has worked in the area of scenographics since 1979 and has a broad range of experience from scenic art to production design. Michael Close is also a professional artist who has had well over 80 solo and numerous group exhibitions with many shows at international levels. Toronto born and raised Michael Close is married to a former public art gallery curator; he has two young daughters who have already won many international art awards.

 

 Ronit Eizenman – CHOREOGRAPHER

Ronit is a dancer and choreographer, specializing in Israeli Dance and Jewish Folk Dance.  Ronit is the director/choreographer of Nirkoda Israeli Damcers of the Koffler Center of the Arts, and the artistic director of the Israel Day Celebration in Toronto. Ronit has choreographed many dances for the Rikudiyah, the annual Children’s Dance Festival in Toronto, and is the co-founder of the Dor-LeDor program at the Rikudiyah

 

 Hayley Fisher - FOURTH WOMAN / HASSID / DANCE CAPTAIN

Hayley Fisher is thrilled to be making her Teatron debut in THE DYBBUK. Hayley recently graduated from Dalhousie University with a double major in psychology and theatre studies and is now pursuing a career as an actress. She was last seen in a production of Aristophanes' PEACE. Other theatre credits include: Helen in LOVE OF THE NIGHTINGALE, the Nurse in EQUUS, a chorus member in LYSISTRATA and numerous roles in UNDER MILKWOOD. Hayley would like to thank her friends and family for all their love and support.

 Shayna Goldberg - BASSIA

This is Shayna's TEATRON Theatre debut, and she is excited to be a part of this production. Past theatre credits include 3 seasons with Vanier College Productions (acting and stage management), ANYTHING GOES and THE MONARCH PROJECT.

 

 Barb Granek-Gutstein - FIRST WOMAN

This is Barb's first show with TEATRON Theatre, and she is thrilled to be working with such a fine director, cast and crew. After a long hiatus from her initial stage debut as Tevye in a girls' camp production of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, Barb became part of the Jewish Day School theatre scene six years ago, shuffling on stage as Grandmother Agatha in GUYS AND DOLLS. Other performances followed as a Jet in WEST SIDE STORY, Yenta in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, Mama in BYE BYE BIRDIE, and various characters in LES MISERABLES, WIZARD OF OZ/THE WIZ and GREASE. In her day job, she is a social worker, wife and mother of three kids, who keep her humble and on her toes.

  Emma Henry - GIRL

This is Emma's debut with TEATRON Theatre. She is a ten year old grade 5 student who loves acting, hip hop and piano. She has performed in numerous school plays and is thrilled to be performing now on a community stage.

 

 Nathan Henry - BOY

Six year old Nathan Henry is thrilled to be acting in THE DYBBUK. This is his first time performing live theatre, though he is a busy TV and voice actor and model. Currently he is appearing in Wonderbread print ads and in an episode of Hot Box on the Comedy Channel. He has appeared in many TV commercials.

 

 Jonah Hundert - CHONNON

Jonah is excited to be making his TEATRON Theatre debut in THE DYBBUK. He recently returned from Sweden where he worked on a devised adaptation of Brecht's CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE. Other recent credits include Dostoevsky's THE IDIOT (Piesn Kozla, Poland/London), BLOODY POETRY (Drunk & Brilliant) and URINETOWN (DalTheatre).

  

Sarah Illiatovitch-Goldman - LEYE

TEATRON Theatre debut. Selected theatre credits include THE RING OF THE KING, THE MIRACLE MAN, THIS DECEMBER, LION IN THE STREETS, THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR, NAOMI IN THE LIVING ROOM, CLOWN, MAIDS OF HONOR, BLOOD, KING LEAR, THE PROMISE and INTERVALS. Sarah is a recent graduate of Ryerson's BFA acting conservatory program and since graduating in the spring she has produced WIT at the alumnae theatre's upcoming production as well as a variety of short student films. Upcoming, THE MAIDS, WIT.

  Rivka Jakubovic - GITTEL

Rivka has a Bachelors degree in Psychology and is pursuing a Master's of Science in Occupational Therapy. This is her first TEATRON show and she is excited and honoured to be a part of this production. Rivka would like to thank the director, cast and crew for their guidance. She is also grateful for the support of her family and friends.

 

 Howard Jerome* - REB AZRIELKE

For TEATRON Theatre, THIS NIGHT. Howard's professional acting career spans almost 50 years on stage and screen. He has hosted the ASHKENAZ FESTIVAL since it began (he is the man in white). Recently Howard starred alongside Harvey Atkin in the hit production of DAMAGES. Howard's most recent appearance at the Leah Posluns theatre was as Psudelous in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM; it happens he has also written a musical about the life of Zero Mostel, the original star of that show. Howard has appeared at the New York, Winnipeg and Arizona Jewish theatres. Selected Toronto credits include starring roles in GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS and THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FANTASTIKS and Harold Ballard in OF ICE AND MEN. Upcoming THE HOUSE OF MANY TONGUES at the TARRAGON Theatre.   Dan Lawson - THIRD BATLON / SECOND HASSID

Dan was recently the lighting operator for A GLIMPSE OF THE LIGHT. He was last seen onstage in Markham Youth Theatre's production of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR IN CONCERT. Previous acting credits include SOUTH PACIFIC, THE MIKADO, BROADWAY ROCKS, THE BOYFRIEND and THE MUSIC MAN. Film and TV background extra work include THE SESSION, FLASHPOINT, WAREHOUSE 13, AMELIA and SAVE THE LAST DANCE 2. Dan would like to thank the cast and crew of THE DYBBUK for making him feel welcome and his parents and very good friend Eric Newton for their support.

  Angèle Morgan - SECOND WOMAN / BRIDE

Angèle has been to drama school, and film school, and culinary school. She uses all of these experiences with varying success. She grew up in Ottawa and has acted and improvised (and cooked) in Canada and New Zealand, most recently at the Bad Dog Theatre and with the Scarborough Theatre Guild. She is excited to be part of the cast for THE DYBBUK and work with many talented people. Also, she is in a rock band.



 Anna Ross - THIRD WOMAN / YESHIVA BUCHER

Anna grew up in a small town outside of Hamilton, and moved to Toronto to attend the Drama Program at the University of Toronto, where she is currently working toward a Specialist degree in Acting. In addition to theatre, Anna also enjoys dance, especially ballet, and playing the piano.

 

 Kivi Shapiro - HENNACH / REB NACHMAN / REB SHIMSHON

Kivi is proud to have worked with several excellent groups in Waterloo and London in shows including FASS, TWELFTH NIGHT, VILLAGE OF IDIOTS, THE GOD OF ISAAC, SHADOWLANDS and THE PETRIFIED FOREST. Kivi is pleased to return to the Toronto stage, following a turn as Reuben Shotsky in TEATRON Theatre's CHAIM'S LOVE SONG.

  

Akshay Sharma - HUNCHBACK / SECOND JUDGE

TEATRON Theatre debut. Akshay Sharma studied Psychology at York but decided to pursue an acting career. His first major venture into live performance was in 2006 at Yuk Yuk's Comedy Club. Akshay's theatre credits include THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES, Antonio in TWELFTH NIGHT and Caliban in THE TEMPEST. Akshay is also a playwright: keep your eyes open for his upcoming script!

 

 Yehudit Shier Weisberg - SONG COMPOSER AND ADAPTOR

After being active with TEATRON theatre behind the scenes for the past six years, both as secretary of the board and editorial advisor to the director, Yehudit is very pleased to have taken a more active role in THE DYBBUK. She composed the melody to the poem “Wherefore”, and set the remaining poems to existing Yiddish melodies. Yehudit teaches Jewish studies, Hebrew and prayer to both adults and children, performs as a ventriloquist storyteller, writes stories for children, and does energy healing.

  Anita Shir-Jacob - FRADE

Anita is originally from South Africa. She arrived in Canada in the mid 70s, from London, England where she lived for ten years. Her past theatre credits include IT'S NEVER TOO LATE, THE LITTLE HUT, A SLIGHT ACHE, SIBS, MACBETH and LEONCE UND LENA. She also directed two student productions at the Robert Gill Theatre: THE BIRTHDAY PARTY and MANDRAGOLA. For the past eight years Anita has been teaching drama related subjects at Yorkdale Adult Learning Centre.

  Menachem Sifen - BRIDEGROOM / MENASHE

 Menachem has been acting since the age of five. He became involved with TEATRON Theatre last year playing Young Charlie in CONVERSATIONS WITH MY FATHER. Before his TEATRON debut Menachem performed in many productions in Naples, Florida. Selected credits include ALL MY SONS, ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM and OLIVER!. Menachem is very glad to be a part of THE DYBBUK.

 

  Philip Soiffer - SECOND BATLON / FIRST HASSID

Philip has enjoyed a smooth transition over the past three years from owning his own engineering company to becoming an actor. For TEATRON Theatre, CONVERSATIONS WITH MY FATHER. Other credits include: MAN OF LA MANCHA (Imperial Musical Theatre), COULDN'T WE BE (Phoenix Theatre), TAKING MY TURN (Theatre Intrigue) and WHO'S UNDERWEAR (Theatre Sarnia). You can see Philip in his upcoming role as Murray in the ODD COUPLE. He has also acted in numerous documentaries and will be appearing in a full length movie in the spring.

  Clinton Somerton - FIRST BATLON / MICHOL

Clinton recently appeared as Shmuelik in TEATRON Theatre's first-ever musical production, A GLIMPSE OF THE LIGHT. Clinton is a Christian, husband, and member of Theatre Ontario. His theatrical credits include leading roles in the musicals FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, GUYS AND DOLLS, THE SOUND OF MUSIC and MAN OF LA MANCHA, as well as the title role in MACBETH. He thanks his wife Susan for her loving support.

 

 Daniel Sonenberg BFA – LIGHTING DESIGNER

For TEATRON, HOME OF THE BRAVE, THE TENTH MAN, CHAIM’S LOVE SONG.  Dan’s other theatre credits include URINETOWN, LES MISERABLES, and the original production of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS JUNIOR. Daniel, a graduate of the Ryerson Theatre School, is a lighting designer based in Toronto.  Over the course of his 14 years in the industry, he has designed lighting for over 300 events and shows.  Currently, Dan is the National Lighting Director at AVW-TELAV Audio Visual Solutions.

Ari Weisberg - DIRECTOR / PRODUCER

Ari’s directorship and design credits include EDMOND, THE MELVILLE BOYS, THE AFFECTIONS OF MAY, MURDER AMONG FRIENDS, THIS NIGHT, THE CHOSEN, THE SISTERS ROSENSWEIG, HOME OF THE BRAVE, THE TENTH MAN, THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO, THE GOD OF ISAAC, CONVERSATIONS WITH MY FATHER, CHAIM’S LOVE SONG. A GLIMPSE OF THE LIGHT and THE DYBBUK Ari is the founder and artistic director of TEATRON Toronto Jewish Theatre. He worked for 18 years as a director and a producer for television in Kingston, Ontario. Later he was able to come back to his first love, live theatre.
